Wednesday.
The fourth day of Advent.
When I am not preparing things for my last little sale, finishing up the simple Christmas list (must finish that getting and spending as soon as possible…to get on to the envisioning and creating and reading and savoring) and all the usual daily tasks, I will spend this day clearing every surface and shelf and section of floor and stairs and any other horizontal surface of anything that doesn’t please me mightily or speak to me of December and all it means. The vertical surfaces will receive my loving scrutiny as well.
In all honesty, it will take more than just one day, but how good it will feel to make every corner as empty as feels inspiring…to receive, in the days to come, some dusting and polishing…a little or alot added back…or, perhaps, nothing at all…making my home Fair (more of that lovely carol to come!).
I feel a very gentle, steady force urging me on to the clearing and preparing and making space physically now so that we will have a feeling of spaciousness with our time and togetherness as we get closer to Christmas Day.
Do you feel it too?

I always feel the cleaning urge 🙂
I am glad to see this post come up and that I am able to comment here, as my own blogger dashboard will not function at all right now … at least I can read others’ loveliness!

I will be spending a good part of my day clearing surfaces, too. While I do so, I’ll be mulling over the Christmas decorating. All the cheery red my boys still love, or perhaps a little less, with more ivory and pear green? I don’t know yet. We’ll hve to see what draws my heart and eye.

I feel it too Lesley.:)
I have also been clearing away things and making space mostly to fill it up again with more wintery things. I am trying to keep a more minimalist appearance though.:)

I am routinely uncluttering our cottage. I do not like all the unecessary that piles up in the corners. I like to live with what we need and what brings beauty to our daily lives. It is a chore indeed. For some reason I am reminded of the mailbox. Every day that I go to get our mail there are piles of ads that I have to throw away in the recycling bin. I don’t even look at them. I don’t want them. It seems so wasteful. But right now our home feels open, simple, and peaceful for the advent and christmastide season. I am so glad you found the votives from French Larkspur to bring more light to your home. Her packages always come beautifully wrapped…you will be blessed. ox
