LesleyKeymasterFirstly…do you find that anything on this website loads really slowly? It’s been that way for me for weeks and I am still waiting for tech-Emily to fix it.
Secondly…I really don’t mind setting up and tending this, but I am wondering what you think about using Hedgerow Post, instead? I do see HP as a micro-blogging place, as Instagram used to feel to me. You don’t have to post photos there, you know. And conversations can happen in the comments, like IG. I’m going to work on making the comments there show more simply and easily like IG, which encourages comments.
My concern is that the forums will become bloated and topics will quickly become out of date. And it would be one less place to tend.
I always wanted us to be more free at HP, but it hasn’t happened yet. The whole point of an IG-like setup is that we follow and unfollow who we want. I think because it’s been all WS women there (except Shelley) that we are all still on our best behavior. : ) But I don’t want it to be that way! I want it to be a place of heart and emotion, as IG was for me.
And having the tiny charge for non W&S people would keep out the baddies. I know that they will soon find the forums unless I find a way to make them private, but then I’ll have to figure out who to let in.
What do you think? I think we can be bold there, as Lynn so rightfully put it, when I can’t at W&S because our membership there is quite varied and is paying for something that doesn’t really include talking about these sorts of things beyond the way we do. I lost a few members at the start of the year with a mistaken link I put in and the mention of current events. Lost another longtime member yesterday, who I know has a conservative bent, and I wonder…
