I am redesigning my "books & readers" notecard set. This will be its fourth incarnation since I first made them in 2003. And I have a design or two without chosen quotations. There are plenty I already know that I could use , but I thought it would be delightful to learn what your favorite quotes about reading are? They must be old enough to be out of copyright...

Mr. Stevenson says it so well. I woke up this morning to the sweet scent of flowers in the soft, warm air...tomorrow will be much cooler and I will collect twigs and branches for our first fire. It is all so good!🌸🍂To celebrate Autumn truly arriving here, I am sharing about something new in my shop and have a special offer. I recently had to close Small Meadow Post to new members as the platform it was built on is no longer being supported : ( But I realized a little while ago that I could make collections of those beautiful & useful e-greetings, in simple folders to download. There are four sets already available with more to come, including Christmas and the Winter holidays. Like much of what I create, the idea for these came to me when I wanted to be better about keeping in touch, even when I was feeling tongue-tied or was too late to send a paper card...a too frequent occurrence. 🙄 And I especially like that they make it easy to celebrate and honor occasions I might not otherwise. And unlike the way the Post worked, these may also be shared in texts and social media. That part was a little strange to imagine, but then I realized the world could use more soft, real, quiet messages making the rounds and these collections were born. And I'm including the Thanksgiving & Halloween set in the Circle of the Year e-postcard set "for a limited time" as they say. :: And now I shall retire to the porch sofa, finish reading the final chapter of my book and enjoy what may be the last warm afternoon...

I haven't had a lovely piece of cake since the birthday cake I made for myself more than half a year ago! Yes, there are much more important things in life, and I am tending them, but sometimes there is a spot that only a really delicious layer cake can fill. Watching the Great British Bake-Off probably isn't helping, but shall we talk about that? Is it just me, or does it feel less interesting this time around? I was so pleased when I learned we wouldn't have to wait months to watch...but I'm finding the bakers less sweet...the peeks into their lives less frequent...the innuendo too prevalent...I miss the usual variety in the age of the bakers. I'm just not caring as much, and that's a bit of a loss after looking forward to it. Is it just me?

On this first day of Autumn I am...holding space for an autumnal planning retreat at Wisteria & Sunshine...and sorting out my own plans and rhythms for this season...and listening to @gretathunberg and others at the climate summit...all from the back porch as I keep watch for the eagle lately showing interest in the hens. Life is so complex and so much needs our care, I can't just wing it any longer as much as it is my nature to. The climate summit in its entirety is on YouTube.
