…have picnic lunches in the hayfield….
…sort and organize…
…find new sunny spots in our home to breakfast with my deario…
…rearrange and sift and sort some more in my studio…
…and, today, succumb to some sort of stuffy-headachy-achy-all-over-something. The weather has turned chill and wet, as well. So this next-to-last day of respite has been spent on the sofa, except for a bit of time this morning gathering bits and bobs for the Hallowe’en costume I hope I can don tomorrow evening. My husband has a gig at a lovely rural cafe, an annual affair, and tho’ I don’t usually dress up, he encouraged me to do so this year. And since he is going to be a pirate (an easy costume when you have long hair and colonial clothes for your day-job!), I am going to be a pirate’s wife. A pirate of-sorts, tho’ without weapons and with a good deal of flowery and leafy layers of skirts…I am imagining a stay-at-home pirate-sprite.
As soon as I finish this I will light a fire in the fireplace next to me, work a bit more on my new project (shall I share a tiny peek?), watch a peaceful movie or two, and enjoy my last evening alone for awhile.
It has been a true respite, with a little bit of everything in it…and the stillness and freedom to savor it all…and take it with me into the coming months.
P.S. Great thanks for all your comments and insights about the new background…

I am sorry you are feeling a little under the weather. The glimpse into your new project is very interesting, I can hardly wait to see it realised. I love the soft colours and pretty font.
Hearty wishes to you, Mrs matey, yo ho.

Everything sounds lovely except for the headachey cold part.:)
You sure know how to keep us coming back when you say things like, “share a tiny peek” and such. Of course it just makes me want to see more.:)
Your hubby sports long hair and wears colonial clothes for his day-job? Oh…more curiosities indeed.:)I must know what he does and see what he looks like now.:) How fun that you will be dressing up to be a pirates wife. Sounds like so much fun. Enjoy it and please get better soon.:)

I just love the softness of your days and gentle ways. You will look so cute I know in your flowery pirate costume. Your blog is always a respite and beautiful place to visit. I need to sort through my old magazines..the pile is almost as tall as me and I cannot get to my old Victoria’s! I will never part with them…they will be vintage someday. But the rest I can donate to the library.

Surely, your brother and mother are having a lovely quiet time at the beach. I’m glad you have had a much needed respite, too. It appears you will be using the same lovely soft vintage illustrations many of us are so taken with. I thought it all was your original artwork. Well, I think your choices and presentation of them is just wonderful, Lesley.

Stacks of Victoria and Country Living!
I always take out smaller stacks for each season and spend time being inspired. Have fun as a pirate’s wife.
I used one of your many cards to a young student of mine today. She loves to read!
