Sitting by the fire, ginger and turmeric flakes steeping, the rising sun lighting up the pale trees across the field. December is here. I’ve a few more orders to print in studio, but yesterday began rearranging there, to make a spot for papery adventures-purely for pleasure-as I let my work go dormant for awhile.
This image, from a beloved advent calendar, expresses December to me and much of the winter to come…I hope. Warmth in the cold, quiet, rather still, but glowing…with just a sprinkling of glitter. And there is togetherness there, too. When I arise from the sofa, after breakfast, I will polish the front door glass and hang my mother’s pine cone wreath…the first of many December rituals. And then I will slowly and steadily bring peace and winter beauty to my currently cluttered and not quite winter-cosy home.
I hope that your December will hold all that you most love! This will likely be my last mailing for a bit, but you may find me every day at Wisteria & Sunshine. Our cheering and sometimes deep Advent posts are just beginning there. I've left a link below to a printable that may help if you, too, are clearing the way for your December. It's one of so many I've created over the years for W&S. I used to think of bundling them up and offering them in my shop, but am more and more discerning of what feels like too much...and what doesn't. That would be too much, but to mention to you that you may always join Wisteria & Sunshine for only a month, to gather up the ebooks and lovelies-to-print, or the Advent posts and some thoughtful company for a time...that isn't. : )
