Packages sent on their journeys today, with love and gratitude…

…and lots of scrubbing and clearing and, therefore, finally typing up all the quotes recently discovered and loved in my books (piled up by the computer). One, in May Sarton’s Journal of Solitude, stuck me all over again today as I typed…

“I rejoiced to think that soon everything here will be honed down to structure. It is all a rich farewell now to leaves, to color. I think of the trees and how simply they let go, let fall the riches of a season, how without grief (it seems) they can let go and go deep into their roots for renewal and sleep.”
I, too, rejoice in the bare branches and the revealed framework that captures the moon, the stars, the birds, the sky….And it seems to me that the color and warmth of these December days and nights makes it easier to let go a bit later…and go deep…and rest….
